Description:

Storytelling is one of the skills students need to have in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) study program. In elementary school, fairy tales are important material to be taught. YouTube social media can be an alternative to hone storytelling skills. Through YouTube, students or prospective teachers can create a variety of interesting stories for students. This study aims to describe the storytelling skills possessed by Esa Unggul University PGSD students through YouTube social media. The method in this research is descriptive by referring to the analysis table of storytelling skills. The research respondents were 55 students. The results of the study explained that the fifth semester students of Esa Unggul University PGSD are quite skilled in storytelling. Based on the results of the analysis, the data obtained showed that the students vocal abilities, language used, mastery of material, appearance, and creativity were good enough. However, there are several deficiencies in the aspect of appreciation or expression as well as the ability to imitate many character voices. The type of story that is mostly used in storytelling is fables. The media that are widely used in storytelling include paper with pictures of story characters and dolls. The storytelling method used includes memorizing and reading the text. Through storytelling activities on YouTube social media, students can present interesting stories and can hone their storytelling skills.
